Maintaining your Tatami Furnishings

Although Tatami requires minimal attention, regular care and maintenance is still necessary to keep Tatami in good condition. We recommend general cleaning on Tatami once a week using a simple 3-step process.

Frequently Asked Question here.

 vv General Cleaning

1. Vacuum
Gently vacuum your Tatami furnishing along the weave of the mat.

2. Cleaning
Fill a small pail of clean water, add a capful of Dettol or any other cleaning agents preferred. Soak a clean cloth in the solution, rinse dry then proceed to wipe the Tatami mat along the weave.

3. Ventilating
Like all natural products, Tatami is a living product and requires plenty of fresh air to "breathe". After cleaning, just stand or prop your Tatami up and let it air dry for at least 60 minutes.
